Kern River Education Outing

Kern River Outing February 11th to the 13th

The Deep Creek Fly Fishers will be having an Educational Outing to the Kern River, February 11th to the 13th.

We are very luck to have Guy Jeans as our guest speaker for the January meeting. Who better to ask questions and get ideas for rods and fly needs for the trip?

The resort has BBQ’s and we can have a BYOB BBQ and Movie Night for people coming in Friday night. Saturday morning, we have a chance to have a clinic with Guy Jeans to learn the secrets of the Kern and all that this fishery has to offer. There is a minimum number of participants we need for this class and the price will depend on the total number.
The Southern Sierra Fly Fishers will be having their club meeting on Saturday, the 12th. We have been invited to join in on the club activities.

Who knows? Maybe a little fun interclub fishing on Sunday!

It is winter in Kernville. So please bring all needed winter fishing supplies. A wading staff, studs for the boots and extra warm clothes are a must. Guy also recommends hand and foot warmers.

Good idea for a winter trip: count me in ! If you are sucessful on the Kern, you have the skills to do well anywhere in the world ! (Don't forget February 14th is Valentine's day: "I forgot because I went fishing" won't cut it !) RAP

Great Richard, Guys Class will depend on how many folks we get. My target is 10 with you we have 6 already. If we get more Guy will have another class... A group of us are staying at falling waters check them out. Say you are with DCFF I am working on a group discount.... PM for more info if you need it. I can send a list of places and campgrounds to stay at.

It looks like we will luck out: the National Weather Service predicts nighttime temps only 30, daytime to low sixties for the trip. Any rain will come Sunday the 13th and Route 178 thru the pass should be open ! RAP
