Diamond Valley

Hi to all

My name is Swanee and saw the article California Fly Fisher featuring Vince Novits.

I live in Bakersfield and have been involved with So. Sierra Fly fishers and the Kern River Fly Fishers for 40 years, also on the Conservation Committee for the last 26 years.

My question is there a guide in the area that specializes on stripers at Diamond Valley on the fly? I don't think they would let me on there with my 2 stroke engine but sure would like to come down there and C&R a few.

I have caught trout, bass to 6# and some large crappie (to 2 1/3 lb.) on Diamond Valley Lake, but I haven't seen any fly fishermen after stripers. The lake is considered a no-body contact domestic water supply by MWD, so they require their approval sticker on any private boat: the inspection process is free, but pre-mix 2 strokes are not allowed. The California Department of Fish and Game has a website of approved 2010 Licensed Fishing Guides, and several of them from the Riverside and Temecula/Escondito area list stripers as one of their guided species, so try checking with them....RAP

The only guide listed by DFG is Robert Slamal.......anyone fished with him before?
