New Candidates for Soap on a Rope Award

As most of you know, we award annually a prize(Soap on a Rope) to a club member who has caused great personal disgrace to him or herself by doing, for lack of a better set of words, something stupid!!!

At this years opener, we had three new candidates for this most odious award.  Without naming each of our errant flyfishers, I will review their actions:

1.      Broke the tip off of his rod.  No matter all the excuses we heard, this was really not bright and this individual deserves to be nominated.

2.      This situation involves a father and son team.  While fishing on McGee Creek, the son had been put on a good run and had caught two good trout.  His father was at the top of the pool and without any fanfare, told his son to go somewhere else to fish so he, the father, could fish in the good pool.  In short, he kicked his son out of the good spot!!!  This is of course a most foul move and certainly deserves nomination.

3.      This member has all the symptoms of CRS!!!!  First, he forgot the handle for his fishfinder, which holds the batteries to make it work.  Second, he fished the gorge and took a reel spool instead of the full reel down the hill.  He fished with the spool in his pocket but the bottom line is he forgot the reel.  Third, when leaving to return home, after a total search of the condo, he forgot his backpack.  I think you could call this advanced CRS!!!

Keep in mind that we still have the closer to get more candidates, but this is indeed a good start for this years award!!  Will keep you all posted on the future(and there will be some) candidates.
