Its been a few years but we finally talked him into coming back. A.K. Best is returning to our Club this month to deliver another of his famous no-nonsense presentations that is packed with loads of common sense. Does that make sense? now before you say anything those of you who remember his last visit are probably thinking “Matching the Naturals” sounds like the title of his last presentation. You are partially correct. The actual title of this upcoming presentation is “Matching the Naturals – Dammit Pay Attention!!!” He requested that we leave the latter portion out of the title banner. He also said that until he thinks of a better title he is sticking close with the old one. Now what is this all about? Well put simply it may be close to the same old title but its an all-new content. The lesson he wants to deliver is that there are more than the naturals to pay attention too. He is going to show you that the naturals are only a small part of the total equation that defines what is going on at any moment on the stream. The whole area that surrounds a stream, whether it be the water itself or the adjacent dry land should become a focus of your attention. He will also show how a simple tool like a camera can show you how to more pay attention as well as teach you some new facts that will overturn some old myths. A.K. Best has been a fl y tier and fl y fisher for 40 years. He is a prolific author about fl y-fishing in general and fl y tying in particular. He has four major books to his credit: Production Fly Tying, Dying and Bleaching Natural Fly Tying Materials, A.K.s Fly Box, Advanced Fly Tying, & Fly Fishing with A.K. In addition he has published over 100 articles in numerous fl y-fishing magazines. You have no doubt read his works. He has also produced a series of videotapes based on his books.
