Southwest Conclave November 20 & 21, 2004

It’s Fly Fishing Fair Time

The Federation of Fly Fishers Southwest Council will be holding its 2004 Conclave & Educational Fair on Saturday and Sunday, November 20 and 21. Show hours are Saturday 9a.m.-6p.m., Sunday 9a.m.-3p.m. The venue for our 2004 show is the Anaheim Palms Corporate Center in a huge, 25,000 square feet meeting room.  The Center is located at 2431 West La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92801. About one mile from Bob Marriott’s Fly Fishing Store, who is co-sponsoring the event.

We’re adding celebrities every day, with speaking, casting and fly-tying demonstrations from Dave and Emily Whitlock, Dave Hughes, Rick Hafele, Sage rod designer Jerry Siem, international fly-fishing couple Marika and Alberto Salvini, spey-casting expert Simon Gawesworth and many, many more. We’re adding more fly-tiers to demonstrate their craft.

Planning a trip? We’ll have lodges and outfitters from Alaska, Montana, Mexico, Costa Rica and other dream destinations to answer your questions and help you plan your trip of a lifetime!

The move to this new location, The Corporate Center, allows us to greatly expand our floor space. For 2004, we’re adding a third giant casting pond, and three seminar rooms for speakers, lodge presentations and demonstrations.

The South West Council/Federation of Fly Fishers will host a silent auction where you can bid on fabulous gear generously donated by our vendors. Food will be available, and a huge, wooded lawn—a perfect spot for a picnic, surrounds the Conference Center!

Admittance to the Fair is $5.00 per person (kids under 12 are free), with proceeds benefiting the Federation. This is your invitation to join us in making this the biggest and best fly fishing-only show in Southern California! See you at the Fair!

We are seeking club members to help staff positions such as ticket takers, pond/equipment monitors, set up and take down, etc. Theses shifts are typically 4 hours, can be done on Saturday or Sunday, either as a morning shift or afternoon shift.  Set up for the Conclave will be on Friday the 19th, therefore volunteers would need to be present then.

We are going to have some great speakers and tiers, a women’s fly fishing program, casting workshops and more, but we need your help to make it a success.  Remember this is “your” Conclave.

Those interested in volunteering, please contact Bob Middo 310-798-2009 or threemiddos@aol.com

Please forward this to your newsletter editors immediately. It is the announcement of the Southwest Councils Fly Fishing Fair. It also is a request for volunteers. The show is the council's main fund raiser for the year and it takes a lot of help to make it run smoothly. So please talk to your clubs also at you meetings and encourage the to get involved and participate. Thanks ever so much.
