"go to" flies
-
Everyone always ask me what are
your favorite go to fly's
-
so I have made a list, I would
have six of each.
-
Dries
Black Gnats
Adams
Lt. Cahills
Wulffs (White, Royal, Adams)
Stimulators (Yellow, Olive, Orange)
Humpies (Red, Green, Yellow)
EHCs ( Elk Hair Caddis)(Tan, Black, Brown, Olive)
Nymphs
G.R.H.Es (Black, Natural, Olive)
P.T.N (Pheasant Tails nymph) (Natural, Black, Olive)
Soft Hackles (Orange, Green, Red)
-
Wooly Buggers (Black, Olive, Rust) bead head
-
Chili Peppers( Yellow,
rust, Olive)
Terestrials
Foam Hoppers( Green, Tan, Yellow)
Foam Beetles (Black, Green)
Ants, Flying and Spent (Black, Red/Cinn)
I think that this will be a good starter set later
on add
-
some BWO's (Blue
Winged Olive)in the mix,
-
then add some emerger type flys.
-
Klinkhammer Special &, Emergent Sparkle Pupa
-
are a couple that come to mind. Of course the
-
soft hackles well fished as emergers.
-
some winged wet flies, fished down stream and across. now out of
-
fashion but still a great addition to any fly box.
-
Hendrickson, Mallard and Claret,
Golden Olive,
-
Alexandra, Peter Ross, Teal Blue and Silver, Laramie,
-
Queen of the Waters, Proffessor,
-
Yellow Sally and any of a hundred others.
-
don't forget a Muddler
or 2, maybe a clouser
-
Until one learns to
recognize hatches, seasons, temperature, time of day, etc.,
-
it is easier to
give them some basics that will catch fish.
