SUBJECT OF THE MONTH

Tips and Techniques for Fishing

the Lower Owens River and

Crowley Lake.

KEVIN PETERSON

This months speaker

Two and a half years ago we were privileged to have as our speaker Kevin Peterson, lead guide and co-owner of The Trout Fly & Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Back then he presented to us an excellent  view of the Eastern Sierra area of which so many of us consider our home waters. He is probably amongst the leading fly fishing authorities for that area. Well, he’s back again! This time Kevin promises to give us a presentation which will build upon the information he left us with during his last visit. His presentation will, in particular, give a very detailed look at tips and techniques for fishing the Lower Owens River and Crowley Lake. He will be discussing techniques for figuring out the constantly changing conditions that occur there. He will point the difference between the O.K. fishermen and good fishermen and why the ability to figure out the conditions and fish them properly will set them apart. Please come and join us to take advantage of this hard-earned information that Kevin has accumulated over the years. Kevin was born in Laramie Wyoming in 1957. At the age of three, he and family moved to Fort Collins Colorado where he began to develop his love for the outdoors. His father taught him to fish and hunt at a very early age. He quickly figured out that fly fishing was something that he truly loved to do!! Peterson: continued from Page 1 At 9 years of age, Kevin and his family moved to Costa Rica where Kevin learned to surf and apply his love for fly fishing to the saltwater. In 1974, Kevin moved to Houston Texas where he spent any free time on Galveston bay fishing for Speckled Trout and Redfish. Finding that the big city was not for him, in 1977, he moved to Santa Barbara California. Even though he found the area beautiful and the fishing and scuba diving great, it was still a little too big. Since many weekends found Kevin driving to Mammoth to ski, hunt or fish, he moved there in 1981. After managing a glass shop in town and fishing every weekend for almost ten years, Kevin was offered a job working part time and guiding for Fred Rowe at The Sierra Bright Dot fly shop. Part time became full time and in 1986 he was offered a partnership in The Eastside Guide Service at the newly opened Trout Fly. He also enjoyed guiding for 6 years in the spring and fall of each year for Clearwater house on Hat Creek until he became too busy guiding at home. Twenty years later, Kevin is co-owner and lead guide of both The Trout fly and The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes. He is an F.F.F. certified casting instructor, on the pro guide staff for Scott Fly rods and has been featured in 6 television fishing shows on Fox and The Outdoor Channel.

See you all there!!!!!!
