Twice a year the club has a fishing trip
typically called the opener and then the closer at Mammoth
this year the openers is on the 5-12 May and the closer will be 29 Sept-6 October
See Mike Telles for opener and the closer reservations.

Here is a list of what one might bring.

Fly fishing equipment and supplies

  • Rod - 7 1/2' to 9' with hard case
  • Line - 3 to 6wt floating - wt forward a sink tip 5 wt or 6 wt.
  • Leader - 9' 5X tapered
  • Float tube
  • Waders
  • Fleas or something to wear under your breathable waders
  • Fins

Flies at least 6 of each I take at least 12 of each. I tie fly's for my trip all year

  • Size 8 - 10 Joe's Hopper
  • Hornberg's 12-14
  • Matucka's 10-14
  • Size 14 Irresistible, Renegade
  • Size 14 - 16 Elk Hair Caddis
  • Size 14 - 18 Adams
  • Size 12 Royal Wulff
  • Size 6 - 12 Yellow Stimulator
  • Size 16 - 18 Blue Dun
  • Size 16 - 20 Blank Ant
  • Size 4 - 6 Stone Flies
  • Size 4 - 6 Bitch Creek
  • Size 4 - 6 Muddler Minnows
  • Size 10 Wooly Buggers (olive or black)
  • Size 12 - 16 Bead Head Nymphs - Pheasant Tails, Prince, Zug Bugs, etc.

Recommended Clothing

  • 1 Light jacket
  • 1 wading jacket
  • 1  (down or Dacron) vest or a wind stopper vest.
  • 1 heavy or cold weather jacket
  • 1 pair of broken in boots 
  • 1 pair of tennis shoes 
  • 1 pair wading shoes or wading boots
  • 1 pair of wading booties you know what I mean.
  • 1 set rain gear
  • 8 pair of wool or cotton socks
  • 1 broad brimmed hat
  • 1 pair light poly-pro long underwear
  • 1 pair gloves
  • 8 sets of underwear
  • 1 sweat suit
  • 1 pair pajamas
  • 3 neckerchief's or bandana's
  • 3 pair jeans (not new - they chaff)
  • 3 pair of sorts
  • 2 long sleeve fishing shirts (one heavy & one light)
  • 4 short sleeve shirts or T-shirts
  • 1 zippered duffel bag
  • 1 Float tube
  • 1 pair of Fins
  • 1 pair of waders I prefer two pair of Waders
  • a pair Flees or something to wear under your breathable waders

Recommended Gear

  • Small day pack, vest, or fanny pack
  • Camera digital or camera and extra film
  • Binoculars (optional)
  • Sun block
  • Chap Stick
  • Mosquito repellant
  • Small flashlight and batteries
  • Personal toiletries and supplies
  • Prescription medication
  • Drinking cup
  • Small 1st Aid Kit
  • Pocket knife
  • Extra prescription eyeglasses
  • 1 towel
  • 1 wash cloth
  • Soap
  • Kleenex
  • Wash-n-dry towels 
  • Large zip lock bags to separate clothing, I prefer those vacuum storage bags
